Each piece of segmented artwork begins with a design, but no two finished pieces are ever quite the same. Natural woods are selected individually for their color, grain and movement, allowing the wood itself to become part of the artwork.

Whether you're drawn to an existing design or have a story you'd like interpreted from the beginning, I'd love to create something made specifically for you.

What Makes Segmented Art Different

It starts with the wood. The color you see isn't created with paint; it comes from the wood itself. Different species are chosen for their natural tones, grain and character, creating depth and variation that simply can't be replicated exactly. Every piece is handled individually. Each design is separated into individual segments before the pieces are cut, hand-sanded, carefully fitted and finished. Only then are they brought together to become the finished artwork. Your piece will be yours. Wood grain doesn't repeat. Colors and markings vary from board to board, and the character of natural wood changes over time. Even when a commission begins with an existing Script & Grain design, the finished artwork will have a character all its own.

Once I understand the piece you're drawn to, we'll talk through size, wood selection and any details that would make it meaningful to you. From there, I'll select the wood species and create your artwork one segment at a time.
